This [oban](/glossary/oban) collects three Tokaido stations — Hara, Yoshiwara, and Kanbara — from the Shizuoka stretch of the highway, all positioned with direct or oblique views of Mount Fuji. Yoshiwara was among the most famous stations for Fuji views, with the mountain appearing to the right of the road due to the highway's curve — a topographic quirk noted by every travel writer. Kuniyoshi's version of these stations offers his own interpretation of the mountain-highway relationship, likely different from Hiroshige's more lyrical treatments.
