Description
A variant depiction of the Horyukaku rooftop battle, this print shows Inuzuka Shino Moritaka resisting arrest in the same climactic scene from Bakin's Hakkenden. Kuniyoshi returned to this subject across multiple compositions, each offering a slightly different angle or moment within the extended confrontation. The roof's architectural structure — tiles, gable ornaments, the vertiginous drop below — provided a dramatic stage for the lone hero's stand against overwhelming numbers.
