M's Room

*M's Room* (2016), an etching with chine collé by Yuji Hiratsuka, shows a stylized woman with short dark hair and bright red lipstick, wearing a red top and a voluminous dark blue skirt with a red rose-shaped ornament at the waist, standing in red heels. She reaches toward a tall potted flower beside a curtained window with pink drapes, in a room with mustard-yellow walls; a framed picture of a tube and brush hangs to her upper right, and a dark pedestal-like object stands at the right edge of the composition. Below her skirt, a round white tablecloth-draped table holds a green pitcher and a patterned dish, with a pale suitcase-like box on the floor at lower left, all rendered in flat colors with visible plate-etched linework.
