Description

A hawk with wings spread wide swoops down over a stylized indigo-and-white wave pattern, its talons extended toward a fish breaking the water's surface below; the wave forms are rendered as bold repeating curls in graduated blues. The bird itself is drawn in fine monochrome linework against a newsprint ground, visible newspaper text showing through the paper, with two orange speech-bubble-like blank shapes floating beside its head. Yuki Ideguchi's 2017 work "Sea (Hawk)" is executed in newspaper, ink stick, and acrylic paint, mounted as a hanging scroll with a patterned grey border and black fabric strips at top and bottom.
