Enclosure 36 continues the systematic exploration of bounded space that defined Amano's most recognized series. The thirty-sixth variation on a single formal concept demonstrates the productive tension between constraint and invention that serial art requires: each Enclosure print must be simultaneously recognizable as part of the series and distinct from every other entry. Amano achieves this through variations in color, in the proportion of enclosed to open space, and in the specific geometric elements used to define the boundary.
