Description
Morning 39 continues the series into its later, more experimental phase. By the thirty-ninth variation on a single temporal subject, Amano must confront the productive pressure that serial art imposes: how to remain genuinely inventive within a committed framework. The most successful entries in extended series like this tend to emerge at the edges — either very early, when the concept is fresh, or very late, when the artist has been liberated from conventional solutions by the sheer need to find new ones.
