$200–$1,500. Snow and night scenes tend to command premium prices for this artist. Key value factors: Amano's prints are affordably priced and accessible.
Morning Moon — L, a woodblock print with ink and color on paper from 1961, combines two of Amano's most characteristic subjects — the morning hour and the moon — into a single composition. The morning moon (asa no tsuki) is a specific atmospheric phenomenon: the moon visible in the daylight sky as morning brightens, still luminous but increasingly challenged by the growing light around it. This transitional subject, where two temporal regimes overlap, gives Amano material for a composition that combines the geometric clarity of his moon subjects with the tonal subtlety of his morning series.
