Key value factors: For living or recently deceased artists, limited edition size and gallery representation drive value. Signed and numbered prints from smaller editions are most desirable.
Yedoensis: Tree-B is a 2010 artist's proof combining digital and woodblock printing techniques. The title references Prunus x yedoensis, the Yoshino cherry, Japan's most iconic flowering tree. By merging digital technology with traditional mokuhanga, Yoshida creates a hybrid object that mirrors the cherry tree's own hybrid origins as a cultivated cross between two wild species. The digital element may provide structural framework or photographic reference while the woodblock contributes the tactile grain and pigment absorption that only hand printing achieves. Tree-B, the second in its sequence, builds on Tree-A's initial synthesis to push the technical fusion further.
