Description
A close-up view of tiled Japanese roofs seen from above, dominated by undulating rows of curved brown, tan, and cream ceramic tiles rendered in bold outlined bands. A ridge of rounded cylindrical tiles with dangling black cords crosses the middle ground, beyond which additional angled rooflines recede toward a gnarled tree with teal-green foliage in the upper left. Signed and dated in pencil below the image, with the title "Afternoon Roofs" inscribed at center — this 1996 woodblock print by Clifton Karhu uses warm ochre and umber tones with no sky or figures visible.
