Kyoto Garden

"Kyoto Garden," a 2022 collage by Elspeth Lamb, is dominated by saturated reds and magentas, with a band of near-black foliage across the top pierced by a single lit window. Layered cut-paper forms — floral roundels, an irregular pale pink oval, jagged foliage silhouettes, and a curved dark shape at the lower edge — build a densely textured garden scene without a human figure present. The overall effect is dense and enclosed, the intense red-on-red palette broken only by patches of pale pink and near-black.
