Description
Fukita's abstract print Floating likely investigates suspension and weightlessness through fragmented geometric or biomorphic forms distributed across an open ground. Within the sosaku-hanga tradition, in which the artist controls carving, printing, and publishing, Fukita achieves compositional lightness by controlling ink density and the degree of pressure applied via baren. Forms appear to hover rather than rest, separated from the picture plane by carefully managed negative space. The washi support contributes to the sense of translucency: its absorbent surface allows pigment to settle at varying depths, producing tonal shifts that reinforce the floating quality described in the title.
