Description
Enoshima Yukei — Evening Scene at Enoshima — depicts the island shrine city off the Shonan coast of Kanagawa Prefecture, a site that has attracted artists and pilgrims for centuries. At evening, when the day trippers have departed and the sea light softens, Enoshima takes on a different quality: quieter, more atmospheric, the shrine buildings and rocky coastline silhouetted against a dimming sky. Fujita's treatment likely abstracts this seaside atmosphere rather than documenting it topographically.
