Description
A Journey, a color woodblock from the 20th century, treats the universal human experience of travel and movement as abstract compositional subject. In Yamaguchi's visual language, a journey might be expressed through directional forms, through shapes that suggest departure and arrival, or through the open-ended spatial compositions that refuse the comfort of resolved destination. The journey as concept — movement through space and time, encounter with the unknown, transformation through experience — aligns with his interest in abstract expression of experiential states.
