Description
Gen Yamanaka's *Blue Shadow* (1995, reverse painting on glass) is a small abstract composition of soft-edged indigo and cobalt forms set against horizontal bands of pale grey-blue, mint, and taupe. Two rounded blue-black shapes float in the upper register — a smaller one at left, a larger irregular one at right — above two narrower, elongated bands of deep violet-blue near the bottom, their edges blurring and pooling into the surrounding color. There are no figures or recognizable setting; the palette is cool and subdued, and the piece is signed in the lower right corner.
