Stripped Costume

Against a pale gray ground, a rounded green form rises into a stack of concentric rings in gray, tan, blue, and turquoise, topped by an oval of solid yellow tilted like an opening lid. Below, a taut expanse of bold black-and-white stripes bends and creases into sharp folds, suggesting a draped or twisted cloth. *Stripped Costume*, painted by Go Yayanagi in 1970 in acrylic and oil on canvas, renders these elements as flat, hard-edged shapes in saturated color.
