$500–$8,000. Common later works: $500–$2,000. Key value factors: Hagiwara's abstract works are collected by both Japanese print and modern art collectors.
Yugijo (1) (Playground (1)) — the first in a paired or extended series of playground compositions — rendered the children's play environment in its most open, undetermined form: the space of play before specific activities have begun, the potential of the playground rather than its realization. The Japanese title "Yugijo" (play-ground, play-place) emphasized the spatial dimension of play rather than the activities that occurred within it, and Hagiwara's abstract treatment made the playground a field of formal possibilities rather than a depicted scene.
