A ninth untitled work by Hiyoshi Mamoru. His range across different cultural settings — Japanese farming communities, Korean markets and villages, the cormorant fishing traditions of the Nagara River — gives his oeuvre an unusual breadth of ethnographic coverage for a Showa-era printmaker. Each cultural setting required different visual conventions and different observational approaches, and Hiyoshi Mamoru appears to have brought genuine curiosity and attentiveness to each.
