Description
The shin-hanga movement in which he participated drew on the tradition of ukiyo-e printmaking while updating its subjects and technical approach for a modern audience. Hodo's contribution to this movement included bijin-ga depicting women in traditional settings and kachō-ga celebrating the flowers, birds, and seasonal landscapes of the Japanese year.
