Description
An untitled Nishimura Hodo woodblock print from his active period in the 1930s shin-hanga movement. His decorative prints in Western collections were placed there through the active marketing campaigns of publishers like Watanabe Shōzaburō, who recognized that Japanese woodblock prints could find appreciative audiences among collectors in Europe and North America who valued the combination of traditional craftsmanship and aesthetic refinement that shin-hanga prints represented.
