$1,000–$8,000. Common views: $1,000–$2,500. Key value factors: Inoue's Meiji-era Tokyo views, influenced by his teacher Kiyochika, have both artistic and historical value. His early death makes works scarce.
Koume was a riverside district along the Sumida in the eastern lowlands of Edo, known for its market gardens, plum orchards, and the slow pace of life on the city's watery eastern margins. Yasuji's view of the area belongs to his careful documentation of neighborhoods that retained much of their Edo character even as the Meiji transformation reshaped the city center. The print captures the quiet green world of the riverine edge city, soon to be absorbed by industrial expansion and urban densification.
