A woman with elaborately dressed black hair is shown half-length, holding a red hand mirror in one hand and a slender pin or brush to her hair with the other. She wears an orange kimono patterned with small white flowers and pine sprigs, against a background that shades from pale peach at the top to deep blue at the bottom; a black object with pine-and-paper ornaments stands at the left edge.
