The plural title suggests a grouping of flowers rather than a single specimen, creating compositional possibilities through the arrangement of multiple blooms, their stems and leaves creating directional movement through the composition. Daffodil studies in the shin-hanga tradition combine the precision of botanical illustration with the decorative sensibility of traditional Japanese flower painting.
