Description
Water Customs V extends the series to at least five prints, confirming the Water Customs title as a sustained serial investigation rather than a paired or triple set. The consistent use of Somerset Soft White 270 gr paper throughout the series establishes a unified material identity for the group, the warmer and slightly softer substrate distinguishing these seascapes from Escudero's Hahnemühle-printed landscape and seascape works. A fifth variation on the series subject suggests a high degree of observational specificity in each print — conditions of light, wave behavior, or sea state that Escudero found sufficiently distinct to warrant independent treatment. In intaglio printmaking, the acid-bitten copper plate records marks at the time of drawing; no two plates are identical, meaning each Water Customs print originates from a separate plate and represents a genuine compositional decision rather than a reprinting of an existing image.
