Description
A second Castle composition by Sekino, likely depicting one of Japan's distinctive feudal-era fortresses viewed from an exterior vantage point. Japanese castles — with their tiered, white-plastered towers rising above stone foundations — offered strong geometric forms suited to woodblock treatment. This version may differ from its companion in season, time of day, or the degree of architectural abstraction. Sekino's landscape approach in his architectural subjects tends toward formal simplification: flat planes of color, minimal texture, and strong silhouette. The print may include surrounding moat, trees, or sky rendered in graduated bokashi tones that contrast with the architectural mass.
