The Japanese castle holds an almost mythological place in the national imagination, and Saito translates that weight into visual mass—stone walls rendered as stacked polygons of grey and ochre, the keep rising against a flat ground with the authority of a seal. Edition 50 of 50 marks the final impression of the run, often exhibiting subtle tonal variations from earlier pulls. Saito's castles are never romantic; they are monuments to human will expressed through geometric form.
