Description
The post-town of Fukuroi appears here through the image of annual growth rings — the concentric circles visible in a cross-section of timber — a motif that references the woodworking and lumber industry for which the region was known. The growth rings also carry temporal symbolism (each ring a year, each year a layer of time added to the living tree) that gives this station print an unusual meditative quality.
