Harmony- oban

Harmony in the oban format presents a subject — whether two figures in accord, a composition of balanced visual elements, or a musical scene — given the space its title demands. Kawano's sense of compositional harmony was deeply informed by his training in the sosaku-hanga tradition, which prized the artist's total control of the printmaking process as a pathway to unified expression. This work demonstrates his ability to organize visual elements into an image of settled, resolved beauty.
