Description
The fourth known impression variant of the Quiet Rain composition, this print documents Kawano's practice of returning to successful subjects across multiple printings, a common pattern among [sosaku-hanga](/glossary/sosaku-hanga) artists responding to collector demand. While the core composition—a female figure in a rain setting—remains consistent, individual printing sessions frequently introduced subtle variation in color temperature, ink density, or background treatment. Each impression, printed by the artist's own hand, carries minor differences attributable to [baren](/glossary/baren) pressure and pigment application. The carving itself remains fixed in the blocks, but the printed result varies as a natural consequence of hand printing.
