Woodpecker B- oban

The oban-format Woodpecker B gives Kawano's second woodpecker variant the space of his largest standard sheet, allowing the tree and bird to coexist with greater compositional authority. The larger format accommodates both the detail of the bird's plumage and the texture of the bark against which it works, creating an image of natural industry set within a carefully observed section of woodland. This version demonstrates how Kawano adapted his subjects to different format requirements.
