Description

Reliquary (2001), a woodcut on shaped paper by Karen Kunc, is printed on an irregularly cut sheet whose silhouette curves like a tall vessel or robe, outlined in a thick band of orange-red against black. Within that border, dense abstract patterning fills the interior in black, white, gold, and pale blue-green: concentric arcs, fine hatched lines, small grid and checkerboard motifs, and scattered black and rust squares surround several white teardrop or oval forms linked by curling red-brown lines. A separate red-bordered rectangular panel near the base holds a dark, textured black field with two thin curving lines extending below it like legs, set against the print's black background.
