As frontispiece, this sheet introduces the volume with a balanced, ornamental composition that signals the book's literary ambitions and its connection to kyoka clubs, where amateur poets routinely cast themselves as modern heirs of the classical tradition. The careful color printing identifies the work as nishiki-e of the highest quality, made for connoisseur subscribers rather than the mass market that dominated Edo ukiyo-e broadsides.
