Moonlight falls on the Yodo River south of Kyoto in this print catalogued under the title Tsuki (moon), its still waters reflecting the pale lunar disc in a composition devoted entirely to nocturnal atmosphere. The Yodo River connected Fushimi to Osaka and carried the commercial traffic of the Kyoto-Osaka corridor; by night it transformed into a landscape of poetic stillness.
