Description
A woman in a patterned kimono kneels on a striped mat at the water's edge, one hand raised to her head, beside a small round basket or vessel resting on the mat. Behind her stretches a dark expanse of water with three round paper lanterns glowing along the top edge of the composition, suggesting a nighttime waterfront scene. The print is rendered in black and white with grey tonal shading; a cartouche with vertical Japanese text appears in the upper right corner.
