A [diptych](/glossary/diptych) print presenting two panels that work together to create a scene broader than either could contain alone. Kyosai's diptychs are among his less frequently examined formats, but they allow for compositional strategies — mirrored structures, sequential narrative, comparative contrast — unavailable to the single sheet. The work belongs to the rich body of Kyosai's narrative and comic prints in which formal experimentation serves expressive purpose.
