Key value factors: As self-carved and self-printed works, sosaku-hanga value is tied to the artist's reputation and edition size. Larger formats, earlier editions, and historically significant works command the highest prices.
A second 1970s Hair print revisits the classical bijin-ga preoccupation with a woman's hair as a subject in its own right. The 髪 (kami) — its length, texture, and the gestures associated with tending it — was understood by the masters of ukiyo-e as one of the most expressive elements of female portraiture, and Takasawa's sustained return to this subject places him in that tradition while bringing his own mid-twentieth-century sensibility to the arrangement. Two versions allow the subject's richness to be demonstrated across multiple approaches.
