Key value factors: As self-carved and self-printed works, sosaku-hanga value is tied to the artist's reputation and edition size. Larger formats, earlier editions, and historically significant works command the highest prices.
A 1970s version of the Wife and Lamp print, this work returns to one of Takasawa's most characteristic interior pairings — a woman lit by the warm glow of a domestic lamp. The formality of "fūjin" (wife/lady) in the title gives the figure social specificity, while the lamp's intimate light creates the private atmosphere in which his bijin-ga compositions feel most themselves. The print belongs to his most productive decade of interior bijin-ga work.
