Description
North Wind, dated 1965 in the Showa period — a composition evoking the cold, penetrating quality of winter wind from the north, the season's most dramatic atmospheric force. The north wind (kitakaze) was a classic winter kigo in Japanese poetry, associated with bitter cold, bare branches, and the arrival of true winter. Kimura's 1965 composition translates this sensory experience into visual terms, perhaps using diagonal lines, fragmented forms, or stark color contrasts to suggest the wind's force and direction.
