Love Letter - 恋文

A second composition under the title "Love Letter" (恋文, koibumi) — Nakajima Kiyoshi's return to this subject in another version reflects the lasting appeal of the private written communication as a vehicle for exploring feminine interiority. The love letter is an object of charged emotional significance: composed in private, it carries the writer's most intimate feelings toward an absent recipient, and receiving it becomes an occasion for private emotional response equally charged. Nakajima's compositions depicting moments of letter-reading or letter-writing capture the woman enclosed in a private emotional world, temporarily removed from the social world around her.
