Japanese Modernist Sculptor Abstract Terra Cotta Relief Calligraphy Painting

A rectangular relief panel dominated by a raised diamond form outlined against a mottled orange-brown ground, filled with dense, looping calligraphic marks in dark brown-black impasto. Below the diamond, a horizontal band crosses the panel with scattered raised dots and a cluster of curving, drip-like shapes along the bottom edge; the artist's signature "Kobashi" is incised in the lower right. The surface throughout is heavily textured and pitted, with the dark pigment pooling unevenly into the terracotta relief to create a rough, tactile finish; this untitled-date work in terracotta, Masonite, paint, and mixed media is attributed to Kobashi Yasuhide.
