Description

A woman with elaborately styled black hair swept into a large rounded chignon is shown from behind and turning to glance over her bare left shoulder, her face in profile. Her kimono is pulled down off her shoulders and gathered at the waist, its collar and visible portion patterned in blue, white, and red floral and geometric motifs against pale skin rendered in flat, even tones. The background is a plain grey, with columns of black Japanese text at the upper right; the woodblock print is titled "Styles of Contemporary Make-up: no. 2, Make-up (Kindaijisesho no uchi: ni, Kesho)" by Kobayakawa Kiyoshi (date unknown).
