Private First Class Onoguchi Tokuji is commemorated in this February 1895 nishiki-e for his role in the fall of Jinzhou Fortress's Yong'an Gate — one of the individual acts of heroism in the Sino-Japanese War that Kiyochika's war print series documented alongside the broader tactical narratives of battle.
