$200–$2,000. Common Kyoto views: $200–$500. Key value factors: Kotozuka's Kyoto prints are popular and affordable. Seasonal temple scenes and garden views are most sought after.
Dated 1950, Hirosawa Pond in the Sagano district of western Kyoto was famous for its moonlit beauty and the practice of "moon-viewing on the pond" (otsukimi) that drew visitors in autumn. Kotozuka's 1950 print depicts this traditional landscape with the atmospheric restraint that characterizes his mature work: the still water reflecting sky and surrounding vegetation, the composition organized around the horizontal plane of the pond's surface and the vertical accents of the trees beyond.
