$200–$2,000. Common Kyoto views: $200–$500. Key value factors: Kotozuka's Kyoto prints are popular and affordable. Seasonal temple scenes and garden views are most sought after.
Summer Rain in Karasaki (唐崎夏雨) — Karasaki being the pine-tree promontory at the southwestern shore of Lake Biwa, famous for its ancient pine and its view across the lake — is a subject with deep resonance in Japanese landscape tradition. The Karasaki pine was one of the "Eight Views of Omi" (Omi hakkei), the collection of Lake Biwa landscapes modeled on the Chinese Eight Views of the Xiao and Xiang Rivers. Kotozuka's summer rain version gives this classical scene a distinctive wet-weather atmosphere.
