Get a Geta

Get a Geta — a wordplay title combining English and Japanese — depicts geta, the traditional wooden clogs worn with yukata and kimono, in Kaneko's bold graphic style, edition 9 of 150 from 2005. Geta consist of a flat wooden platform (dai) elevated on two wooden crosspieces (ha), creating one of the most architecturally distinctive forms in Japanese material culture. Kaneko's treatment turns this everyday object into a graphic study of geometric form, while the English-Japanese pun in the title reflects his playful engagement with cultural translation.
