Sensu Tabi 2

Sensu Tabi 2, edition 48 of 100 from 2001, is a hybrid print that combines two of Kaneko's most sustained serial subjects — the folding fan (sensu) and the split-toed sock (tabi) — in a single composition. The pairing of these two distinctly Japanese objects, one associated with summer performance and the other with traditional footwear, creates a still-life dialogue between different registers of material culture. The combination demonstrates Kaneko's willingness to cross the boundaries of his own established series.
