Dialogue

Lee Ufan, *Dialogue* (2013), oil and mineral pigment on canvas. Two soft-edged rectangular blocks of brushed gray-blue pigment sit on an otherwise bare white canvas — one in the upper right corner, fading from dark blue-gray at its top edge to pale gray at its base, and one in the lower left, fading from pale gray at its top to dark blue-gray at its base. The rest of the canvas is left empty, giving the composition a sparse, quiet balance between the two diagonally placed marks.
