Description
Asian Collection Internet Auction is a title derived from the sales context in which this woodblock print was documented rather than from the artist's own naming. Maeda Toshiro's original title has been lost to the secondary market's cataloging practices, replaced by the commercial channel through which the print passed. Despite its utilitarian title, the print itself carries the same technical quality and artistic intent as Maeda's other work. The woodblock medium connects it to a lineage of Japanese printmaking regardless of how dealers and auction houses chose to label it for contemporary buyers.
