Description

A large abstract white form with a heavily textured, crumpled or cracked surface fills the center of the composition, set against a solid black ground on both sides. The white shape's jagged, irregular edges create an organic, torn or fissured silhouette, and small black slivers and notches puncture the white field near its center. This is Maki Haku's "Work 73-50 B (Nothing)," a 1973 woodblock print with embossing, executed entirely in black and white.
