Tumble (2019) is a mokuhanga print encompassing both landscape and garden subjects, suggesting a scene of cascading or disordered organic forms — fallen leaves accumulating in a garden corner, water spilling over rocks, or autumn vegetation collapsing into itself. The subject allows Brodbeck to exploit one of mokuhanga's strengths: building complex overlapping forms through transparent, water-based pigment layers that accumulate depth without muddiness. Multiple block passes create the impression of layered material — leaves on top of leaves, stems crossing stems — each impression adding tonal information to a unified whole. The 2019 date places it within a productive period of her practice.
