Description
A cluster of white-walled, dark-roofed houses with peaked gables and small blue-framed windows rises above a still waterway, rendered in loose black ink outlines with grey wash shading and touches of orange-brown and pale green pigment. A leafless willow tree with drooping branches stands at the water's edge beside a moored wooden boat with bamboo poles, its reflection faintly visible in the water below. Red seal marks and brushed calligraphy appear in the upper left corner; this 2014 Chinese brush painting, "Village by the Stream" by Xu Ming, uses a muted grey, white, and rust-orange palette throughout.
